Styled in game, not in a config file

Every postal script works the same way: you open a config, guess a hex colour and a pixel size, restart the resource and see how it turned out. Repeat until it looks right.

JC Postal has an admin panel inside the game. Colours, opacity, text size, corner radius, padding, font, and the position by dragging the HUD around the screen, all with the real HUD updating live behind the panel. Save, and it reaches every player on the server at once. No restart.

Presets and content

Four presets to start from, Minimal, Card, Accent bar and Glass, each applied with a click and a live preview. A preset only sets the look, so your content choices stay where you put them.

What the HUD shows is separate: the postal code, the street name, a compass, the distance to your active route, an icon, and a label you can rename or leave out to show the number alone.

Players aren't stuck with it

Each player can drag their postal somewhere else, resize it between the limits you set, and hide it entirely. Their layout is stored per identifier and survives reconnects, and one button puts them back on the server layout.

If you'd rather nobody moved it, lock the position server side. Players can still resize and hide, but the HUD stays where you put it.

Search and routes

A panel with the codes nearest to you, the ones you saved and the ones you used recently. Type a code to filter, set a route from the result, and the route drops a blip, tells you when it's set and clears itself when you arrive.

/postal 1234 sets the route straight from chat, and /postal clear drops it.

Favourites are stored per player in the database with a limit you choose. Recents live on the player's own machine.

1687 codes, and room for yours

The full postal map ships in a JSON file you can edit or replace.

Codes can also be added in game, with a radius each one owns around itself so it wins over an older code sitting closer, which is what you want for an MLO or an added island. Each one gets a blip.

That feature ships turned off, on purpose. A code you add changes the HUD but not the numbers printed on the pause map, because those are a texture your map pack streams and no script can repaint it. On a map that already has postals everywhere, the player would read one number on the HUD and a different one on the map, which is worse than not having the feature at all. Turn it on where your map draws nothing of its own, and it's exactly the right tool.

It behaves

  • Drawn only inside a vehicle, if that's what you want
  • Hides with the pause menu and while the player is dead
  • Respects the hideHud statebag, so your HUD script's hide-all toggle takes the postal with it
  • The interval between nearest-code checks is a config value, so you decide what it costs
  • The icon font is bundled with the resource, not pulled from a CDN

Access to the editor

Three ways in, and you pick which ones count: a framework admin group, a server ACE, or a list of citizenids and identifiers. Admin actions are logged to the console and, if you want them, to a Discord webhook.

Compatibility

  • Frameworks: QBCore, QBox and ESX Legacy
  • Required: oxmysql and ox_lib
  • Languages: English and Spanish included
  • Client exports for the nearest code, a code's coordinates, setting and clearing the route, and opening the search panel

Setup

  1. Drop the folder into your resources
  2. ensure jc-postalv2 in your server.cfg, after ox_lib, oxmysql and your framework
  3. Give yourself editor access, then open the panel and style it

There is no SQL file to run. The four tables are created on the first start, and a style saved by the old version of the script is imported automatically.

What stays open

  • config/postal.lua, the whole configuration: commands, permissions, HUD behaviour, default style, fonts, player limits, search, route and logs
  • data/postals.json, the postal map itself, so you can edit or replace it
  • locales/, every string the script prints
  • client/framework/ and server/framework/, both bridges
